Hello,
I am Utkarsh Agrawal. After graduation with a major in mechanical engineering in 2019. I joined my family business that makes uniforms and linens for hospitality and healthcare sector. At the same time I was assisting my father in setting up another industry that makes zinc powder, operations for the industry is planned to commence by April 2024. This year ( 2023) I am going to USA to pursue MBA. After MBA in long run I see myself as an entrepreneur and running my family business.
The question that is lingering on my head is whether I should come back to India directly after my MBA and grow the two industries. Or whether I should take up job in USA for few years and then come back to India. ( my family business is medium size enterprise)

The reason I want to do MBA is because I want to change the few rudimentary methods which my business adapts. I want to learn the fundamentals of business and lead my business with assurance rather than luck.

If I were you, I would want to work in manufacturing sector abroad for a few years to gain insights on their ways of working, build a network and learn practices that are portable back to India, so long as a) there is no compelling reason or pressure on you to return immediately and b) you will be able to sort out work visa in the US (which a STEM MBA would resolve for you).
Your objective should be to go beyond focusing on few rudimentary methods - you may have resolved those by an Indian MBA or outsourcing to some consultant too.

Hi Utkarsh
It's always better to spend some time in the USA and gain experience and new skills. Coming back to India immediately doesn't make sense; if you are looking to do that, an Indian MBA might be a better fit. If you have management in place for the business, and your coming back immediately is not critical, consider working in the US for 2-3 years post-MBA.
