Hi Sajjad1994, for Q4. unless this is an external interpreation by a scholar (which is no where mentioned). The passage provides support to option 'C'.

Para 2:
He tells us that his seizure of power was a “liberation from the tyranny of a faction.” After he came to power “by universal consent,” he returned control of the state to the hands of the Roman senate and people

Since there is no mention of an explicit assertion, I find it hard to not go for C.

4. According to the passage, which of the following is an assertion made in the Deeds?

The passage says the Deeds is Augustus’s own self-presentation. It portrays him as a patriotic, humble defender of Rome rather than as an ambitious ruler. So the correct answer must be something the Deeds itself claims, not what later historians say about it.

(A) Augustus was victorious in the civil war that followed Julius Caesar's death.

The passage says the first two sections describe his role in that civil war, but it does not specifically say that the Deeds asserts this exact point.

(B) The example of Cincinnatus was an inspiration to Augustus in times of conflict.

This is not stated. The passage says Augustus wanted to be remembered in that tradition, not that he himself said Cincinnatus inspired him.

(C) Augustus's restoration of republican forms gave political legitimacy to his regime.

This is Gibbon’s analysis, not Augustus’s claim in the Deeds.

(D) Augustus brought freedom to Rome.

This is correct. The passage says Augustus claims that his seizure of power was a “liberation from the tyranny of a faction.” That is essentially the claim that he brought freedom to Rome.

(E) Augustus accepted the title of "First Citizen" in a spirit of humility.

This is not an assertion from the Deeds. The passage says Suetonius reports that Augustus accepted many honors and refused enough to maintain an appearance of humility.

Answer: (D)
