D,E are incorrect - Use of 'they' for 'Board of Directors', which is singular.
B is incorrect as it does not use 'but also' with 'not only'
C is wordy - and not parallel in using THEIR in - 'their greatest' but also 'THEIR' most lucrative...Also is wrongly plural.
A is correct.

Good question.. thanks for the detailed explanation.. can you cite some more examples which are singular like "the board of directors"
