IMO: E.
As 'when' indicates time, Action should follow in second clause. 'When children become teenagers' should follow something about children. So, A & D are eliminated.
Between B,C & E,
'B' lacks parallelism between because their sense of smell is heightened and because of their taste buds changing.
'C' uses wrong use of due to.
Choice (E) is correct in all aspects.
