generis could you help ?
I had marked B as Answer, isn't "it" in B referring to pollution. Moreover, how are tenses in option D in line with the non-underline part of the sentence.
The
it is somewhat ambiguous, but we have better reasons to take option B out:
Increased pollution in the Huang chin River could alter the nature of Huan chin Bay, and it would rob the lobsters there of their flavor, make them smaller, less distinctive, and less in demand.1.
rob, make, less distinctive...Less distinctive is an
adjective, and therefore is not parallel to (
would)
rob and
make (
verbs). Alternatively, if the sentence is trying to make
less distinctive parallel to
smaller (which is also an adjective), then we need an
and between
rob and
make. Otherwise we are left with:
It would rob, make them A, B, and C. ← There is nothing here to join
rob and
make.
2. Meaning
I don't think that it is the increased pollution itself that will do all the things mentioned in the sentence. It is the change in the nature of the bay that we need to focus on.
