A&C out because of the modifier issue: "created ..." describes the threatre and not the director/producers or the actors.
D out because of "his" describing Wells and Houseman. The construction doesn't make clear that only Welles earned fame.
E same as D + "being" which is usually not that much liked on the GMAT.

D- 'his' is ambiguous and creation of theatre in 1938 is missing info
E - "the mercury theatre on the air" and " the director and producer..." should be close to each other to convey meaning easily
