Eliminate option B and E as they have a different construction: “as” it outside the “not only X but also Y”. Here we have “but also as...”, therefore the “as” must be after not only.
Now discard option looking at the parallelism.
Option A does not compare “life in the theatre” and “life of faith”. Eliminate A
Between C and D, my choice is C because the antecedent of the pronoun “his” cannot be the genitive Racine’s.
IMO option C

In GMAT SC I think it's ok for a possessive pronoun to refer to an antecedent in a possessive noun. I don't know how to choose between C & D
