This is a good question from GROCKIT. Some of the questions there are really nice and some aren't.
A good post nevertheless.

Ofcourse, it is C.

thanks.

Looking at the answer choices, option B looked the most appealing to me. However looking down at your post you had noted the following.

whiplash2411
B: Designer goods are often a profitable venture, assuming that the label has some cachet built in. We aren't told about this either. Out of Scope.

Dawgie
B: Designer goods are often a profitable venture, assuming that the label has some cachet built in.
Stimulus does not say often.

My question -- "How did you rule out the possibility of the Answer choice B completely?" -- The stimulus noted that "others are compelling to consumers merely because of the status they offer—like designer handbags" and option B talks about goods or labels with some cachet built in.

ezhilkumarank,

Actually appreciate you questioning further, the answer choice says, "are often a profitable venture". The portion of the stimulus that refers to designer foods does not really talk about frequency.

Thanks,
Dawg

As dawgie mentioned, profitability is not mentioned. It might compel a SMALL fraction of consumers to buy it, or else it wouldn't be a status symbol. We are not explicitly told anything about how profitable it is, just that designer labels compel some people to buy it.
