Ok. basically the actors needs to act like "talkies" from back when but they seem to overstate when performing BUT it seems the director "told them to". So lets find answer.
a. passage never said actors preference.
b. Seems true BUT we are not sure if that is the real intention
c. not sure if that is true.
d. Yes! basically the actors acted live theaterish but it is by the direction of the director so no harm no foil.

IMO: D Actor did his roal as intended by director,so The overstated performance of the actors on Faraway Isle do not provide evidence against the director’s stated intentions.
