Didn't quite understand this argument and OA too. Can someone please explain ?

The answer is B.

The argument states that screenwriters purposely and consistently hand in longer-than-needed screenplays, and states in the next sentence that the reason is that they anticipate it being cut. This directly implies they already expect, ahead of time, that their scripts will be altered - exactly what B states.

Using the answers:
A. Screenwriters for a film are generally not involved in any aspects of filmmaking besides providing the script. This may be true, but it is no way implied by the screenwriter's statement
B. Seasoned screenwriters are resigned to, and make allowance for, draft scripts being altered by those evaluating them. Yes - that would directly explain why they hand in longer-than-necessary scripts, and is explained by the assumption (in the next sentence) that those handling the script want to change it
C. Truly creative screenwriters are too temperamental to adhere to page limits set for their work. No- what is being described here is deliberate, and not accidental
D. It takes a special kind of creativity to recognize what is best left out of a film script. Maybe so, but that is not conveyed; quite the opposite - the assumption seems to be that those cutting the script just want to something....
E. Even experienced screenwriters cannot be expected to write scripts of consistently high quality throughout. Not stated or even implied

Experienced screenwriters, aiming at creating a 125-page screenplay for a film, usually turn in 135-page first draft. As one screenwriter put it, "That gives those in charge of the movie a chance to be creative when they get the script: at the very least, they can cut 15 pages."

Aim is to create 125 pages screenplay but screenwriters turn in 135 pages. They expect that it will be cut short later and that’s why they leave a room of extra pages.

The screenwriter's statement cited above conveys which of the following propositions?-what could be inferred from screenwriters’ approach?

A. Screenwriters for a film are generally not involved in any aspects of filmmaking besides providing the script.- we don’t know that.
B. Seasoned screenwriters are resigned to, and make allowance for, draft scripts being altered by those evaluating them.- matches with our prethinking. Correct.
C. Truly creative screenwriters are too temperamental to adhere to page limits set for their work.—out of scope
D. It takes a special kind of creativity to recognize what is best left out of a film script.— it might but it’s not mentioned.
E. Even experienced screenwriters cannot be expected to write scripts of consistently high quality throughout.—point of view other than writers’ is not given.

Hello,

Why "Seasoned screenwriters are resigned to". I do not understand why they are resigned? It sounds as if they do not agree with these changes or if they are sad about them. Can somebody help me in understanding the answer?

Hi,
You are absolutely right. They are not 'willing to' do something. But that something is writing extra pages not the changes. According to the statement mentioned in the passage "That gives those in charge of the movie a chance to be creative when they get the script", what author means by creative is that it gives the "in charge" a chance to chop it down/modify it.
