(A) A healthy diet leads to healthy teeth.
Hold it.

(B) Skeletal remains indicate that some early humans had a significant number of cavities.
Out of scope.

(C) The diet of early humans was at least as varied as is our diet.
Irrelevant.

(D) Early humans had a shorter average life span than we do, and the most serious dental problems now tend to develop late in life.
This is weakening by providing the alternate reason.

(E) Diet is by far the most significant factor contributing to dental health.
Ok. Good option.

Now between A and E.

E is the strong contender as it says that Diet is by far the MOST SIGNIFICANT factor contributing to dental health. This will strengthen the conclusion more than A because A says that a healthy diet leads to healthy teeth but doesn't talks about variation in diet.

I found it very hard to choose between A and E. I eventually went for A since I thought it was more linear and did not talk about other factors
