The sun emits two types of ultraviolet radiation that damage skin: UV-A, which causes premature wrinkles, and UV-B, which causes sunburn. Until about ten years ago, sunscreens protected against UV-B radiation but not against UV-A radiation.

Which one of the following is best supported by the information above?

(A) Since about ten years ago, the percentage of people who wear sunscreen every time they spend time in the sun has increased.
(B) Most people whose skin is prematurely wrinkled have spent a large amount of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen.
(C) The specific cause of premature skin wrinkling was not known until about ten years ago.
(D) People who wear sunscreen now are less likely to become sunburned than were people who spent the same amount of time in the sun wearing sunscreen ten years ago.
(E) Until about ten years ago, people who wore sunscreen were no less likely to have premature wrinkles than were people who spent the same amount of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen.

Whenever you see the support in the question, think about strengthen or must be true or inference.
If you see a conclusion in the stimulus or the given paragraph, then think of it as the strengthen question, otherwise consider it a must be true/inference question.
Try to make a conclusion by linking the premises with some words.

A) Since about ten years ago, the percentage of people who wear sunscreen every time they spend time in the sun has increased. we don't care about the percentage of people wearing sunscreen lotion.
(B) Most people whose skin is prematurely wrinkled have spent a large amount of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen. we don't know whether this happened.
(C) The specific cause of premature skin wrinkling was not known until about ten years ago. who knows, they knew what caused it and they couldn't do anything to develop a lotion
(D) People who wear sunscreen now are less likely to become sunburned than were people who spent the same amount of time in the sun wearing sunscreen ten years ago. we don't know about present. we're talking about past.
(E) Until about ten years ago, people who wore sunscreen were no less likely to have premature wrinkles than were people who spent the same amount of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen.[/quote] Here we are talking about effects of people using sunscreen lotion and people not using sunscreen lotion. and This is the only option that touches every aspect of the stimulus. not just specifics as in option c

- WRONG. A comparison in spending time is not what passage suggests or discusses.
(B) Most people whose skin is prematurely wrinkled have spent a large amount of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen. - WRONG. Again like A it is not inferable.
(C) The specific cause of premature skin wrinkling was not known until about ten years ago. - WRONG. Cause not discussed.
(D) People who wear sunscreen now are less likely to become sunburned than were people who spent the same amount of time in the sun wearing sunscreen ten years ago. - WRONG. A degree of comparison in sunburning is not suggested.
(E) Until about ten years ago, people who wore sunscreen were no less likely to have premature wrinkles than were people who spent the same amount of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen. - CORRECT. Both were equally likely to get wrinkled, no differentiation.

Answer E.
