I don't understand why the answer can't be C?

Let us parse the argument.
Dictation software allows a computer to produce a written version of sentences that are spoken to it.
Background /descriptive information due to absence of premise.

Although dictation software has been promoted as a labor-saving invention, it fails to live up to its billing.

The laborious part of writing is in the thinking and the editing, not in the typing.
Premise 1
And proofreading the software’s error-filled output generally squanders any time saved in typing.
Premise 2

Argument: Premise + Conclusion.

Why the software fails to live up to its billing ?
Because
Prem 1: The laborious part of writing is in the thinking and the editing, not in the typing
Moreover, because
Prem 2: And proofreading the software’s error-filled output generally squanders any time saved in typing.

Hence, pursuant to the C-answer, what is main conclusion, and what premise is buttressing it?
(C) It is an intermediate conclusion that is offered as direct support for the argument’s main conclusion.

(B) It is the argument’s only conclusion. CORRECT
(C) It is an intermediate conclusion that is offered as direct support for the argument’s main conclusion. X

I panicked and did not read all the answers.
Premise -> Dictation Software is not worth it.
Evidence -> Thinking is the hard part, not the typing and the software's output is error-filled
Conclusion -> For sure, Dictation software is not worth it.
