Jablonski owns a car dealership. She looked at the accident statistics and was disturbed. She wanted to help the community so as to encourage better driving and reduce the number of accidents. For this she donated cars to driver education programs at area schools for over five years. Also some people of the community have purchased cars from her dealership.

Which one of the following propositions is best illustrated by the passage?

A. The only way to reduce traffic accidents is through driver education programs.

B. Altruistic actions sometimes have positive consequences for those who perform them.

C. Young drivers are the group most likely to benefit from driver education programs.

D. It is usually in one's best interest to perform actions that benefit others.

E. An action must have broad community support if it is to be successful.

I read the stem here, which is barely in English, and became confused seeing the "Official LSAT" tag -- I would be shocked to see language like this on an official LSAT. I'd also be shocked to see logic like this in an official LSAT question (none of the answers is good at all here, as the question is written). So I looked up the original official version of the problem, and it barely resembles the question I quoted above. The original is here (Q6 on pg 15)

https://www.lsac.org/sites/default/file ... ptjune.pdf

Most importantly, in the original the last sentence of the stem says "Some members of the community have shown their support for this action by purchasing cars from Jablonski's dealership", so in the original, we know for a fact that the car sales have something to do with Jablonski's altruistic actions, and B is a logically correct answer. In the version originally posted in this thread, that I've quoted above, there is no connection at all between the car sales and Jablonski's altruism, and answer B doesn't make any sense (nor does any other answer).

A. The only way to reduce traffic accidents is through driver education programs. --- The ONLY way? A bit strong...

B. Altruistic actions sometimes have positive consequences for those who perform them. --- Not bad...

C. Young drivers are the group most likely to benefit from driver education programs. --- A bit specific without supporting evidence

D. It is usually in one's best interest to perform actions that benefit others. --- BEST interest is a little off perhaps. In the passage it also says she did it for the community.

E. An action must have broad community support if it is to be successful --- MUST?

(B). Not bad.
