A. An admissions program will admit the best applicants if it includes interviews --> Note this option presents a condition "if" and talks about best applicants. Not relevant.
B. The interview is a more significant part of a successful admissions program than is the development of the course of study ---> We don't know of this comparison.
C. Admissions officers can accurately identify applicants whose personalities are not suited to the area of study ---> Why are interviews an essential part in the process? Because students who have personalities that are unsuited to the area of study won't be selected. So how can this be true and possible? Dropping candidates who are not a good fit can be possible if Admission officers can accurately evaluate the candidates personalities during the interviews. Therefore, this is the correct choice.
D. The only purpose of an interview is to evaluate whether graduate school candidates' personalities are suited to the area of study ---> Note the word "only". Evaluating students personalities is one aspect of an interview but there can be many others too.
E. The fit of graduate school applicants' personalities to the course requirements was once the most important factor for making admissions decisions ---> Can be but not necessary.
