In a study, we need to know the results of a control group to be able to tell if the new findings are better or worse.
In this case, to say that boys and girls have better growth in their heights in a single-sex school, we need evidence to support the position. To support this position, results of the growth in heights of boys and girls in a co-educational school are needed to compare the results.
