Austin: Over time, solar energy will replace the depleting store of fossil fuels. So, development of solar energy should be a priority.

Hanna: I disagree. Solar energy systems are crude and the supply of coal is sufficient for our needs.

The misunderstanding between Austin and Hanna is based upon

(A) different assumptions of the size of available fossil fuel
(B) different beliefs about the environmental benefits of solar energy
(C) different understandings of existing solar energy technology
(D) different perspectives on time
(E) different views of energy economics

The problem with size is that it might be same for both of them but one thinks its sufficient while another that it would not be.
The key word is "over time" that suggests that Austin is about future needs while "is sufficient" suggests that it's about present needs.

Answer D.
