The pasture pools are more permanent than the forest pools but according to option E , they are also more likely to harbor predators. Hence the frogs' eggs will not do better in pasture pools than in forest pools because in pastures pools there will be enough predators to eat them.
E is my answer.

Looking at all the answer choices, E is the most logical to complete the reasoning in the passage.
(A): we are told in the passage that pasture pools are more permanent than forest pools. The word “probably” is not assuring in this instance since there would be at least some pasture pools that outlast forest pools. Eliminate A.
(B): this choice mentions adult rain-forest frogs being bright-colored to indicate to predator that they are poisonous. It does not logically relate to frog eggs in general. This has no effect on the completion of the passage. Eliminate B.
(C): knowing that many species have become extinct does not affect the immediate likelihood of surviving species of frogs in the rainforest. Eliminate C.
(D): a mention of the amount of sunlight does not correlate with the passage since there is no mention in the passage of the presence of sunlight being needed in order for laid eggs to successfully mature. Eliminate D.
Through process of Elimination, we are left with E. Filling in the passage with this choice, we can logically complete the passage with the information given. Since pasture pools are more permanent than forest pools, the chance of more predators being harbored means than laid eggs may not do as well in this condition if there is a higher risk of predators. This ultimately deems the success of laid eggs in pasture pools to not be as high as the success of eggs laid in forest pools.
