It is the policy of SubStop Sandwiches to give discretionary raises only to employees who demonstrate a strong commitment to their jobs and have worked at SubStop for more than six months. However, a state labor law requires SubStop to provide annual cost-of-living raises to all employees who have been continuously employed for at least six months. This is an inference-based question: Out answer should be a MUST BE TRUE one with the given facts. We need to find out why and why only 2 out of 8 got any incentive eventhough company was compiling for 2 types of incentives.
(A) Two of its employees demonstrated a strong commitment to their jobs: If two showed commitment, Well good, But the remaining can or cannot qualify for annual cost of living expenses. Doesnt give a definite answer
(B) None of its employees received a discretionary raise. Okay, This means non of them have committment but some of them can still be working for 6 months+, that number can be 2 or 4 or 6 or even. Not Enough
(C) Six of its employees failed to demonstrate a strong commitment to their jobs.: Okay, Strong commitment was failed by 6, but they still can be working for more than 6 months without a commitment and qualify for annual cost of living incentive.
(D) Two of its employees worked at SubStop continuously for at least six months.CORRECT
Only 2 out of 8 individuals worked continuously for at least 6 months. This is important because a minimum of 6 months of continuous service is required to qualify for both the discretionary incentive and the cost of living incentive.Therefore, only these 2 people are eligible for incentives.Now, even if both of them were to fail the commitment criteria, they would still qualify for the annual cost of living incentive. This further justifies why only 2 out of 8 individuals received an incentive

Am I missing something here? Discretionary raise does not ask for 6 continuous months of working, the 2 employees can work the first 3 months and last 4 months and still get the DR, no need for them to work at least 6 months continuous as the correct option suggests?
