Aha! A tricky one. But the crux of the solution lies in understanding what the question needs from us - We are looking to strengthen the idea that it was the ledgers that decreased the occurrence of domestic strife (fighting at home) for the women who started maintaining records.
Let's try to eliminate the options. I'm looking to strengthen the idea that ledger maintenance led to happier households.
A. Kids now received pocket money since, now that their parents were less angry and frustrated and more well off, they had become more generous. WRONG.
Because this talks about the consequences of a happier household, it doesn't support the idea that the ledger led to a happier life inside the home. Kids getting more pocket money is what happens when parents are happier and more well off, which doesn't lend support to the idea that ledgers lead to a happier life.
B. When any women shopkeeper sold on credit and recorded the customer signatures, there were no more arguments with customers or lost income. WRONG.
This comes close, but it talks about having an easier time at work due to maintainance of a ledger, not exactly something we can connect to a happier household life.
