Research has shown that a diet rich in raw vegetables helps inhibit cancer growth in rats. A group of rats with a genetic predisposition for stomach cancer were fed a diet of raw vegetables and displayed a thirty percent lower rate of cancer development than a similar group raised on a combination of raw vegetables and meat.

The research described above is most likely to be applicable in addressing which of the following questions?

A. Can workers in labor-intensive fields perform better by taking up a vegetarian diet?
B. Do animal proteins inhibit certain types of cancer more efficiently than they inhibit other types of cancer?
C. What hereditary diseases are rats subject to?
D. How do habitual carnivores avoid cancer?
E. Can pediatricians reduce children’s risk of getting cancer by recommending vegetarian diets?

Correct Answer: E
Reason
The research shows:
  • Rats eating only raw vegetables had 30% lower cancer than rats eating vegetables + meat.
So the study suggests:
Quote:
Vegetarian diet may reduce cancer risk.
Option Check
  • A ❌ About work performance
  • B ❌ Says animal protein inhibits cancer (opposite of study)
  • C ❌ About hereditary diseases in rats
  • D ❌ About carnivores avoiding cancer
  • E ✅ Asks if vegetarian diet can reduce cancer risk in children
Even though the study is on rats, it could help address whether vegetarian diets reduce cancer risk in humans.
Answer: E (Best match with diet → cancer risk relationship).

I donot mind Kudos!!
