I just cant seem to understand this minimum maximum incoin flip problems. Can some one explain the difference between the 2 problems
What is the probability of flipping a fair coin four times and the coin landing on heads on at least three flips?
What is the probability of flipping a fair coin four times and the coin landing on heads on at most 3 flips ?

1. What is the probability of flipping a fair coin four times and the coin landing on heads on at least three flips?Getting heads at least 3 times out of four tries means getting heads 3 (HHHT in any order) or all 4 times (HHHH).
P=4!/3!*(1/2)^4+(1/2)^4, multiplying the first case of 3 heads (HHHT in any order) by 4!/3! as HHHT can occur in several ways: HHHT, THHH, ... whcih equals to the # of permutations of 4 letters out of which 3 are identical 4!/3!.
2. What is the probability of flipping a fair coin four times and the coin landing on heads on at most 3 flips? Getting heads at most 3 times out of four tries means getting heads 0 (TTTT), 1 (HTTT in any order), 2 (HHTT in any order), or 3 (HHHT in any order) times. Basically all cases but getting heads in all 4 tries (so not HHHH).
P=1-(1/2)^4
