You know that sqrt(5) is larger than 2. Thus the expression is larger than 3/2, which only leaves A and D as possible solutions. Since sqrt(5) is closer to 2 than 3 D also drops out, leaving A as the correct solution.

The value of the square root of 5 is approximately 2.2.
So, 1 plus the square root of 5 is:
1 + 2.2 = 3.2
The ratio is 3.2 to 2. Simplifying:
3.2 divided by 2 = 1.6
The closest ratio to 1.6 is 8 to 5
