Let trucks = t

Creating table below:

Cars .............. Trucks ................. Total

100-t ................. t .......................... 100

\(\frac{1}{2}\) cars & \(\frac{1}{3}\) trucks are used; which sum up to 42

Setting up the equation

\(\frac{100-t}{2} + \frac{t}{3} = 42\)

t = 48

Answer = E

c + t = 100
1/2 c + 1/3 t = 42
c + 2/3 t = 84
1/3 t = 16
