Answer = E. 5.5

Average \(= \frac{2 + 3 + 5 + 6 + 9 + 8}{6} = 5.5\)

Tough and Tricky questions: Arithmetic.

Attachment:

The above graph lists the number of cars sold per month at a car dealership from January (Jan) through June (Jun). How many cars did the dealership sell on average, per month from January through the end of June?

A. 3.67
B. 4
C. 4.67
D. 5.33
E. 5.5

Kudos for a correct solution.

OFFICIAL SOLUTION:

(E) According to the graph above, monthly sales were 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 and 8. The sum of these numbers is 33. Dividing by 6 to get the average sales per month, we get 33/6, or 11/2, which is 5.5.

The correct answer is choice (E).
