Number of tourists per bus = y
Number of buses used = Total tourist/ Number of tourists per bus = x/y

IMHO (B) x/y as well !

Number of buses used = Total number of tourists / Number of tourists per bus => x/y


PS : In case of any doubt , plug in some numbers

Total number of tourists transported by bus = 500
Number of tourists per bus = 10

No of buses required = 500/10

Hi All,

While this question is relatively simple, and it can be solved in a coupe of different ways, you could see something this simple on Test Day. If your goal is a high score, then you have to make sure that you're answering these types of questions correctly.

This prompt can be solved rather easily by TESTing VALUES. Abhishek009 shows an example of how to do this, but you can get to the correct answer with even easier VALUES.

IF...
X = 6
Y = 3
6 tourists were transported to the museum with 3 tourists on each bus. That means that there were 2 busses. So we're looking for an answer that equals 2 when X=6 and Y=3. There's only one answer that matches.

Total number of tourists = (number of buses)(number of people PER BUS)
So, we can write: x = (number of buses)(y)
Divide both sides by y to get: x/y = number of buses

Answer: B
