A violinist practices one hour a day from Monday through Friday. How many hours must she practice on Saturday in order to have an average (arithmetic mean) of two hours a day for the six-day period?

A. 5
B. 6
C. 7
D. 8
E. 12

Average hours of practice for six days from Monday to Saturday = 2 hours
Total hours of practice for 6 days = 2*6 = 12 hours
Hours practiced from Monday to Friday (5 days) = 1 hour * 5 = 5 hours
So practice hours on Saturday to get an average of 2 hours = Total - Practiced hours = 12 - 5 = 7 Hours
Hence C.

No of hours practiced - 1*5 = 5
Avg hrs = total hours/no. of days
2= total hrs/6 so total hours must be 12
12-5 = 7
Ans option C
