Machine starts manufacturing Red and ended on Black.
This means that either machine has manufactured 3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48, 53, 58, 63, 68, 73, 78
Only 78 is given in the options. So answer = 78 = E
The other around is by Remainder formula. which becomes X = 5Q+ 3, which produces the same sequence as above.

Since the black notebook is the third notebook in the 5-color notebook sequence, the number of notebooks produced that are black must be 3 more than a multiple of 5. Looking at the given choices, we see that only 78 is 3 more than a multiple of 5; therefore, 78 is the correct answer.
Answer: E
