Which of the following numbers is the biggest => [-6/7 , -7/8 , -9/10 , -12/13 , -34/35]
A)-6/7
B)-7/8
C)-9/10
D)-12/13
E)-34/35

Got it in 40 seconds...still I consider this more...

[-6/7 , -7/8 , -9/10 , -12/13 , -34/35] which one is the biggest...?

If we observe all the fractions just differ by one i.e denominator vs numerate.. in such case the biggest will be with large values... here all values are with -ve value...the least value is biggest. i.e. -6/7..

Hence A is correct answer...

Nice..!!
Now solve this =>
fractions-question-from-gmat-club-test-m25-113363.html

and this =>
which-of-the-following-fractions-has-the-greatest-value-160537.html

and do not forget this =>
which-of-the-following-has-the-greatest-value-89630.html?fl=similar

Didn't do this one as it didn't have the OA...

which-of-the-following-fractions-has-the-greatest-value-160537.html
Taken 2.4 mins...:(...use simple logic...make all denominators same and the value with bigger number is large number.

For options A and B, I divided 5/5 to make is appear 2^2 and 5^3...and the same denominator exists for all other options..

which-of-the-following-has-the-greatest-value-89630.html?fl=similar
Taken 3 mins :(...the logic I could recollected very late... square root value is always less than actual number... when we have square root in the num/den (√2/√3) then this value is greater than the actual num/den (2/3) and this value is greater then 2^2/3^2 and the D and E are subtracting values from 1 so..these values will be lesser than 1...Hence option A..

Which of the following numbers is the biggest => [-6/7 , -7/8 , -9/10 , -12/13 , -34/35]
A)-6/7
B)-7/8
C)-9/10
D)-12/13
E)-34/35

Another way to solve this question :

[-6/7 , -7/8 , -9/10 , -12/13 , -34/35] can be written as

-1+1/7, -1+1/8, -1 + 1/10, -1+1/13, -1+1/35

Now, in order to make the number larger, we need to add something larger to -1.

In first option, we can see 1/7 is the largest of all the other given

Hence, A.

C)-9/10
D)-12/13
E)-34/35

If all the numbers are negative, the number that is the largest is the one that will be closest to zero on the number line. Here, that number is -6/7.

Alternate Solution:

If all the numbers are negative, the number that is the largest is the one will the smallest absolute value. Here, that number is -6/7 since |-6/7| = 6/7 which is smaller than the absolute value of any other numbers in the list.

Alternate Solution:

Note that if we have a list of numbers and if we were to add any constant number to each of the numbers on the list, the ordering of the numbers will not change. Let’s add 1 to each of the numbers on the list:

[ 1 - 6/7, 1 - 7/8, 1 - 9/10, 1 - 12/13, 1 - 34/35] = [ 1/7, 1/8, 1/10, 1/13, 1/35]

Since 1/7 is the largest among all the numbers obtained after adding 1 to each of the numbers, -6/7 is the largest among the original numbers.
