Area of the carpet = L X B = 8 * 5 = 40 square metres
Cost per square meter = 12.50$

Cost of 40 square metres = 40 * 12.50$

= 500$

Area of the room: 8m * 5m = 40\(m^2\)
Cost of carpet: \(\frac{$12.5}{m^2}\)
Total Cost: \(\frac{$12.5}{m^2}\) * \(40m^2\) = $500
