Great question.

y=7x+5 for some integer x

As y is not divisible by 7 => It can never be divisible by 14

SMASH THAT E.

If x is an integer and y = 7x + 5, which of the following CANNOT be a divisor of y?

A. 10
B. 11
C. 12
D. 13
E. 14

Since y is 5 more than a multiple of 7, we see that y will NEVER be a multiple of 7. If y is not a multiple of 7, it can’t be a multiple of 14, either. Thus, 14 cannot be a divisor of y.

Answer: E
