Since, Marko's income is the highest, let it be 100
Given information, Doug's income is 40% of Marko's income. Hence the income is 40
Since, Jon's income is 50% of Doug's income, the income is 20

The incomes are in the ratio
20:40:100 or 1:2:5

Since we have been asked to find Marko's income is what percent of Jons's incomee
it will be 5/1*100 or 500%(Option E)

Doug's income is 40% of Marko's income and Jon's income is 50% of Doug's income.If Doug's income is $28000 a year,then Marko's income is what percent of Jons's income

A)5%
B)14%
C)20%
D)175%
E)500%

Because answers were far apart and numbers were reasonable, I did it the long way, albeit with some shortcuts. Round up Doug's income and drop 3 zeros for everyone.

Round up, so Doug = 30.

Jon is 50% or half of Doug = 15

Marko? Doug = .40 of Marko =>

30 = \(\frac{4}{10}\) or \(\frac{2}{5}\) M

Multiply both sides by \(\frac{5}{2}\)

\(\frac{5}{2}\)* 30 = ( \(\frac{5}{2}\) * \(\frac{2}{5}\)) M

M = 75

Marko as a percentage of Jon?

\(\frac{75}{15}\) = \(\frac{5}{1}\) = \(\frac{x}{100}\) ==> 500%

We are given that Doug’s income is $28,000. We can create the following equations in which j = Jon’s income and m = Marko’s income:

28,000 = 0.4m

70,000 = m

AND

j = 0.5(28,000)

j = 14,000

Marko’s income, expressed as a percentage of Jon’s income, is 70,000/14,000 = 5 = 500%

Answer: E

40% of M = D

So, 40M/100 = 28000

Or, M = 70000

J = 50% D

So, J = 14000

SO, M/J 's income = 70000/14000*100

Thus, Answer must be (E) 500%
