Thus, 10 + x = 15 and we have x = 5.

Therefore, the answer is D.

I think this question lacks the appropriate amount of background information sufficient of a GMAT question. Some more engineering could be required.

Hope you're well.

The table shows that the scores are incrementing by 1.
Let the scores be 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

5,5,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,x times 7,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9

Total number of terms on LHS of x is 10
Total number of terms on RHS of x is 15

Given condition is "the median score is not represented as the score shown on the table"

Option A) 2
If x=2

5,5,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,7,7,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9

Median of the set above is be 8, and 8 is a score on the table.

Option D) 5
If x=5
5,5,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,7,7,7,7,7,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9
The median in this case is (7+8)/2, and 7.5 is not represented as the score shown on the table.

You can check for other options B, C, and E.
