I think this question might be a little ambiguous. It seems to be asking for married women as a percentage of the whole labor force, men and women.
But the answer choices here do not support the number of married women as a percentage of men and women in the labor force, \(y\)*
The answer choices do present options for the number of married women as a percentage of all women in the labor force.
So the question must be asking what percent of women in the workforce were married. I think. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
On the graph, the number of married women is depicted by the middle strip, with hatch lines.
The number of married women in the labor force, is about (14 - 6) =
8 million married women
The number of all women in the workforce in 1947 is about 16 million.
So married women are about
\(\frac{8}{16} = .50 * 100 =\)
50 percent

1947: women = 28.1 percent of total labor force
1947: total # of women in labor force = about 16 million
1947: total # of married women in labor force: about 8 million
1947: total labor force?
16 million = 28.1 percent of total \(y\)
\(16 = .281y\)
\(\frac{16}{.281} = 57 million = y\)
Married women as a percentage of the whole labor force?
\(\frac{8}{57} = .14 * 100 =\)
14 percent. Not an option.
