As a salesperson, Alice can choose one of two methods of annual payment: either an annual salary of $45,500 with no commission or an annual salary of $12,500 plus a 25 percent commission on her total annual sales. What must her total annual sales be to give her the same annual pay with either method?

A. $115,000
B. $132,000
C. $165,000
D. $182,000
E. $195,000

To figure out Alice's annual sales, we must determine the total commission that Alice earned to break even with the $45,500 salary

$45,500 - $12,500 = $33,000 --> Total commission that Alice must earn to break even with $45,500 salary.

Next, we can determine Alice's annual sales (X)

X = 33,000/.25 OR 33,000/x=1/4 --> 33,000(4)=x

$132,000 = x --> The answer is B
