Total magnolias = (\(\frac{magnolias}{pines+magnolias}\)) * Total (magnolias+pines)=\(\frac{2}{(10+2)}\) * 84 = 18.

A, 9
B. 11
C. 18
D. 20
E. 54

We can create the ratio pines : magnolias = 10x : 2x, and thus:

10x + 2x = 108

12x = 108

x = 9

Thus, there are 2 x 9 = 18 magnolias in the nursery.
