In triangle CDE
x = angle DEC + angle DCE
x= 90 +(180-y) Theorem: An exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles.
x+y = 270 degree

In Triangle ABC, 90 + 55 + C = 180 -> C = 180 - 145 = 35
Since, sum of angles in a straight line is 180, 35 + y = 180 -> y = 145
In the triangle CDE, 90 + 35 + D = 180 -> D = 180 - 125 = 55
Since, sum of angles in a straight line is 180, 55 + x = 180 -> x = 125
Therefore, x + y = \(145 +125 =\) 270(Option D)
