Solution

To find:
    • The ratio of area of the kitchen to the dining room

Approach and Working:

As the kitchen room is a square, all 4 sides will be equal to 8
    • Hence, area of kitchen = 8 * 8 = 64

In case of dining room,
    • Length = 14 + 4.5 – 8 = 10.5
    • Width = 8
    • Hence, area of dining room = 10.5 * 8 = 84

Therefore, the ratio of area = \(\frac{64}{84} = \frac{16}{21}\)

Hence, the correct answer is option E.
