Given:
- • Total 14 slices of pizza are available
• Two friends ate same number of slices, third friend ate two more slices than each of the other two friends ate
To find:
- • Number of slices the third friend ate
Approach and Working:
If we assume the first two friends ate x slices each, then
- • The third friend ate = x + 2
Therefore, we can write,
- • x + x + x + 2 = 14
Or, 3x = 12
Or, x = 4
Hence, the number of slices the third friend ate = x + 2 = 4 + 2 = 6
Hence, the correct answer is option D.

Now we can form an equation.
x+x+(x+2) = 14
3x + 2 = 14
3x = 12
x = 4.
Now we can plug the value into x+ 2 .
x+2
=4+2
=6
Thus the best answer is D.
