three times as many cars use 2nd Avenue as use 3rd Avenue
=> number of cars on 2nd avenue = 3 * 100 = 300
1/4 of the cars on both avenues are taxis
=> number of taxis that drive down 2nd Avenue ever y hour = \(\frac{1}{4} * 300\) = 75
Hence option D

=> number of cars on 2nd avenue = 3 * 100 = 300
1/4 of the cars on both avenues are taxis

To find:
- • The number of taxis driving down 2nd Avenue every y hour.
Approach and Working:
- • Since three times as many cars use 2nd Avenue as 3rd Avenue, the number of cars using 2nd avenue= 300
- o Hence, the number of taxis using 2nd avenue= \(300*\frac{1}{4}= 75\).
Hence, the correct answer is option D.
