Another method is by eliminating options.

Let < 25 = X and \(\geq 25\) be Y.

X : Y = 3 : 2 and X is 36 million.

From this data, we get 2 important pieces of information.

(a) Y has to be lesser than X, which gives us either Options A or B.

(b) The sum of A and B has to be divisible by 2 + 3 = 5.

36 + 18 = 54 is not divisible by 5, but 36 + 24 = 60, which is divisible by 5.

Option B

A. 18
B. 24
C. 36
D. 48
E. 60
Solution:

If we let x = the number of people who are 25 years or older, in millions, we can create the equation:

36/x = 3/2

3x = 72

x = 24

Therefore, the number of people who reside in Country Z is 36 + 24 = 60 million.
