If the 3rd interval was 24mph, then the 2nd interval was 21mph and the first interval 18mph. 6min*1hr/60min=1/10hr*18mph= 1.8 miles so choice C? Please correct me if my logic is wrong. Thank you.
Yes you are right.. I did it wrong by reducing 6 mph per 6 min interval..

The average speed of a certain train was measured every 6 minutes and was found to have increased by 3 miles per hour during each successive 6-minute interval after the first
interval. If in the third 6-minute interval its speed was 24 miles per hour, how many miles did the train travel in the first 6-minute interval?

The speed at nth 6-minute interval Sn = S0 + (n-1)3 where S0 is the speed at 1st 6-minute interval

Given, 24 = S0 + (3-1)3
=> 24 = S0 + 6
=> S0 = 18

Now, the distance traveled by train in the first 6-minute interval = 18*6/60 = 1.8 miles

Hence C
