If 3x + 6y = 69 and 2x – y = 11, what is the value of y?

A. 6
B. 7
C. 8
D. 9
E. 10

Given:
2x - y = 11; we can isolate the y to get y = 2x - 11

Now we can substitute y into the first equation to find the value of x.

3x + 6(2x - 11) = 69
3x + 12x - 66 = 69
15x = 135
x = 9

Now we can substitute x into either equation to find the value of y. Let us use the rearranged equation of y = 2x - 11.

y = 2(9) - 11
y = 18 - 11
y = 7

Option B
