A pocket contains pennies and dimes only, in the ratio 4:1, respectively. If a coin is randomly selected from the pocket, what is the probability that it is a dime?

a. \(\frac{1}{8}\)
b. \(\frac{1}{5}\)
c. \(\frac{1}{4}\)
d. \(\frac{1}{2}\)
e. \(\frac{4}{1}\)

Since the ratio of pennies to dimes is 4 : 1, the simplest case would be that there are 4 pennies and 1 dime. The probability of selecting a dime is 1/(1 + 4) = 1/5.

Answer: B
