Approach and Working:  
As all the information provided are in terms of percentages only, we can start solving the question by assuming the total number of students in the senior class as 100.
 • Number of female students in senior class = 60% of 100 = 60
• Number of male students in senior class = 100 – 60 = 40

Also,
 • Number of female students going for senior trip = 70% of 60 = 42
• And, number of male students going for senior trip = 90% of 40 = 36

Total number of students going for the senior trip = (42 + 36) = 78
As the total number of students is 100, percentage of students going for the trip = 78%

Hence, the correct answer is option C.
