What in the problem gave away that this is basically an LCM problem? GMATWhizTeam

You have to think of it like this, or well this is how i thought about it, if the cost of each type of candy is in a whole number, then it must mean that the cost of each candy x the price of each candy = whole number for all colors of candy. So when you think about that the total amount of purple candy that you buy n x 20 cents needs to be divisible by the cost of each individual candy for it to be true. That is because you are spending THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY on each color of candy and getting 0 leftover. Sorry if this explanation is a bit confusing ahahahahaha.
