Hi can anyone help me with the explanation of this answer?

abhishek31
anything in specific you in doubt then please highlight

we are given
4x + 5y = 15
eqn of line ; y=mx+c
y= y coordinate ; x= x coordinate and c= y intercept

so we can re write 4x + 5y = 15 as
y= -4/5x+3
(4,5) given
slope of line will be same ; m = -4/5 ,we need to find C for
eqn of line D = y=-4/5x+c
solve with (4,5) for C
we get C = 8.2
IMO D

The (4,5) given is the intersection so why do we take it for solving the equation?

Shef08 Because we need a point on the line to find it's y-intercept.
line d intersects line g at (4,5) which means the point is a solution for/part of both lines).

Generally we need either 2 points to first find the slope, or a point and the slope to find the equation.

Can someone please tell why I have this wrong?

Y= -(4/5)x + b
5= -(4/5)*4 + b
b= 9/5

Y= -(4/5)*0 + 9/5
Y=9/5

Thank you :)
