Which one of the following numbers can be removed from the set S = {0, 2, 4, 5, 9} without changing the average of set S?

(A) 0
(B) 2
(C) 4
(D) 5
(E) 9

sum of no S = {0, 2, 4, 5, 9} 20 and avg = 4
so target is to remove a no and get same avg or say total = 4*4 ; 16
so remove 4 we get sum = 16
IMO C

(2+4+5+9)/5=4
ANSWER A?

If u remove zero, the number of remaining numbers is four.
Thus new mean =20/4=5 which is NOT EQUAL to existing mean (4).
Thus, u should not remove ZERO for getting the same mean.
