Rate of machine A would be 60/12 i.e 5.rate of machine B would be 120/8 i.e 15.

Time is given 25 mins

Work = Time *Rate

So Work of machine A : 5*25 = 125
Work Machine of B is : 15*25 = 375

So total work done by both machine is 125+375 =500

Answer is E.

Machine A fills soda bottles at a constant rate of 60 bottles every 12 minutes and Machine B fills soda bottles at a constant rate of 120 bottles every 8 minutes. How many bottles can both machines working together at their respective rates fill in 25 minutes?

A. 420
B. 440
C. 460
D. 480
E. 500

Machine A fills \(\frac{60}{12}\) = 5 bottles / min
Machine B fills \(\frac{120}{8}\) = 15 bottles /min
Together they fill 20 bottles /min

In 25 minutes, together they will fill = 25 * 20 = 500 bottles

\(Rate = \frac{work}{time}\)

\(\frac{60}{12}+\frac{120}{8} = \frac{x}{25}\)

\(5+15= \frac{x}{25}\)

\(x =500\)

A. 420

E. 500

The combined rate of both machines is:

60/12 + 120/8 = 5 + 15 = 20 bottles per minute.

In 25 minutes, 20 x 25 = 500 bottles can be filled.
