For the first place we have got just two choices,vowel sounds
and second, third ,and forth,3,2,and1 respectively and finally 1 choice for the last place.
So, 2×3×2×1×1=12

The words which start and end with a vowel and use all the letters of the word
RAVEN are E---A or A---E. The remaining 3 letters can be filled in 3!(6) ways
Therefore, a total of 2*6 or 12(Option C) 5 letter words can be formed.
